SCA2014 Connection weekend, day four – on top of the world!

So, time for the last and final day of the second of four weekends of Supercoach Academy. A half day of class, with reflections, sharing an an exercise, and afterwards hugs and more hugs.

Went to Salisbury hotel afterwards and met up with Rachel. And man have we had a blast of a time, let me tell you! Amongst other things we went up to the Top of the rock, that is, the Rockefeller Center.

Behind me you can see the Empire State Building. Great view as you can see from this picture. From up there New York and Manhattan seem almost serene. Then I came down to street level, and the hustle and bustle of the city takes a firm grip of me again. It’s a weird feeling to be in such a vertical place as much of mid- and downtown of Manhattan is. I have been able to rest a bit from this vertical experience by going into Central Park. The nature, trees, green expanse and being able to look far ahead have been soothing.

What would happen to the residents here, if they didn’t have the ability to have some horizontal space such as Central Park provides?

SCA2014 Connection weekend, day three

Looking back at today I am very thankful that Silvio and I took a walk south in Central Park this morning, on the way to the venue. I miss nature, staying in the bustling city of New York, on Manhattan.

We walked past a sign stating this was The Swedish Cottage, but me and Silvio both agreed it looked more Austrian or something. But there was a sign stating it had been transported here from Sweden during the 1880s or something.

Coming close to the west border of the park, we could hear the thump thump of the city, almost like the heartbeat of it. I felt it was almost something I could touch. But I wasn’t ready to leave the expanse of nature and horizontal views just yet, so we walked a few more blocks inside the park instead, before finally venturing out into the land of tall buildings, plenty of people, the hustle and bustle of the city.

In the third day of Connection Weekend I got so much. Insights. And love. Tears. Big feelings. Hugs. Mara Gleason is really awesome, so if you have a chance to meet up with her, do, you won’t regret it!

After class I tagged along some friends of SCA, and have had an absolutely lovely evening! But am tired now, and ready to go to sleep, to rest up for the last half day of this second SCA2014-weekend.

And then the third leg of this journey begins. I am headed to a hotel, where I will also get a new room mate. My friend Rachel whom I’ve known for 20 years but have never met away from keyboard has come up from Alabama to meet up with me. Isn’t that amazing?

SCA2014 Connection weekend, day two

Wow, what a day. Mara Gleason was our guest teacher/guide/conversation partner for the day, and it’s been a ride alright!

But it actually started with me finding Silvio down at the cafeteria of the hostel when I came down for breakfast, and he asked if I wanted to take a walk up to Columbia University. So we did, and it was really nice. Extra special since my little brother went there recently – looked like a really nice campus to spent time at!

Took the tube to Times Square, where I got off to walk the last blocks to the venue for the training. Two major things happened there today, major for me that is. The first was when I volunteered to be coached by Mara, which gave me reassurance concerning an assignment I’ve just taken on. The second was a one-on-one coaching exercise where my SCA-colleague Sacha Ivis guided me through a very significant meeting with one of my oldest and still alive & kicking squiggles.

Only SCA2014-participants might get the meaning of that right now, but there will be more on it here, sometime, for sure. But briefly, squiggles is what happens when I get stuck on a thought, and just can’t seem to let it go. Feels familiar?

The problem isn’t the problem!

Day three of Foundation Weekend at Supercoach Academy 2014, Michael Neill invited Cathy Casey and Mark Howard in to be our teachers. 20140121-153531.jpgHowever, he set up a public event the night before and one of the most interesting things I brought with me from that 2-hour session, was this:

20140121-151740.jpgMight be hard to decipher, but what this drawing shows, is that the problem isn’t the problem, your thinking about the problem is the problem. Do you get it?

Let’s take an example. How about, not being able to fall asleep. You lie awake at night, trying to get to sleep, tossing in turning in your bed. right. I’m sure you’ve experienced that.

Well, what happens is that you start to worry and fret about not falling asleep. And that keeps you awake, going nuts, worrying about not getting enough sleep to get thru tomorrow etc etc.

You think (worrying) about the problem (not sleeping). If you’d not worried about the not sleeping part, you’d probably either have fallen asleep, or you could have done something else during that time. Maybe read a book, or even write one, plan the weekend outing or whatever. That way you would go about your business, using this extra time awake for something or other. But worrying about not falling asleep – where will that get you?

So, do you see how the problem isn’t the problem, your thinking about the problem, the initial issue, is?

Day 4 Foundation Weekend, SCA2014

Well. What a trip this has been, in more ways than one. Am sitting at LAX airport right now, waiting for my flight to take off for home. Had some serious insights today, which for sure will make for some blog posts in the future. Thank you Kenny for being my partner in crime for that last coach session. 🙂

Me and LisaHotel CarmelHad lunch with Lisa, my wonderful room mate at Hotel Carmel, and fellow SCA2014 attendee, before going to the hotel, finishing the packing, and took of on the Big Blue Bus of Santa Monica. Real nice that, can’t beat a one dollar ticket to get to the air port, can you?Big blue busLAX sunsetLAX

Have a long journey ahead of me, and luckily, it’s evening now, so I hope I will be able to sleep on the flight. Right now though, I just want to be at hoooooooome with my family! You know that feeling?

Day 3 Foundation Weekend, SCA2014

Started the morning doing a sample CoachWalk with my roommate, a really nice experience along the Santa Monica Beach, walking into the rising sun. Not to mention the fact that Ethan Hawke came running past us. So there’s my celebrity spotting checked off the to-to-list for my LA-visit.

At Supercoach Academy, Cathy Casey and Mark Howard have been our catalysts for the day, providing ample space for a lot of deep conversations. Lots of laughter, recognition, insights. But right now, I just feel confused. The lovely prospect of that is that my thinking will clear, like a snow globe, and then there will be clarity of mind.

Muddled mindAt least, that’s what I am counting on right now. So that’s it for me. But please tell me, what you do when you feel like you have a muddled mind?

Day 2 Foundation Weekend, SCA2014

Another day done, 2 days to go of Foundation Weekend. Time flies when you are having fun! And I must say, so far it’s really been a treat. And luckily, even though we are ending early today, there’s more to come, since there’s this thing tonight between seven and nine, that I am planning to attend.

Attending SCA2014

I am very glad that SCA is set up in such a way that it gives room for plenty of in between spaces. The breaks, the one-on-one-conversations and coaching sessions as well as the long lunch break, gives room for me to land. To pick up on the analogy of ensuring a good foundation, the in between spaces gives my foundation time to settle.

Do you ensure you give yourself that type of space in your ordinary day-to-day life?

Day 1 of Foundation Weekend, SCA2014

It’s been a full day, but still, I come away with a sense of calm. That feeling is helped along by my realization that there’s another 15 days to go, in total, before Supercoach Academy 2014  comes to a close in September. So there is plenty of time to create loads of wonderful conversations, meet with all these magnificent people, and get to a deeper level of my understanding of the three principles of Mind, Conciousness and Thought. And that, my friends, makes me one happy camper!Morning walk

Morning walk on beachI started the day with a walk along the Santa Monica beach, and ended it in a similar fashion. Can life get much better than this?

Supercoach Academy 2014

In May I signed up for Supercoach Academy 2014 with Michael Neill. It will be a transformative experience, of that I have no doubt. What I didn’t realize was that it started to be life-altering from day one. Just having signed up I immediately got access to a lot of resources and challenges, that have, already, made a profound impact in my life.

When I told one of my coach clients about this, I got this response:

Oh, that will be so great for me!

I am so grateful for the wisdom of my clients, because isn’t this the truth! When I as a coach challenge my insights, expand my awareness, and grow my understanding, of course it will benefit my clients!

Now, you don’t have to be my client, to sign up for SCA2014 or be/want to be a coach to experience what I am talking about. During the month of October Michael Neill released a daily clip on YouTube in his series ”A month of transformational coaching”. Here’s the first clip:

If this spiked your interest, check out the rest of the videos as well. And if you want to find out more about SCA2014 – just call on me and I’ll help you find your way. Perhaps you’ll even want to join me?
